Audio GuideParc Kellermann
1930s-era park with Art Nouveau flourishes, plus a food kiosk, Wi-Fi & open spaces for picnics.
Parc Kellermann stands as a remarkable green space in Paris's Thirteenth Arrondissement. Once the former bed of the Bièvre River and part of the glacis beside the old Thiers wall, the area transformed over time into one of the city’s most inviting parks. Originally established around Nineteen Thirty-Seven and later reworked in Nineteen Sixty, the park reflects an evolving urban narrative.
The park divides into two distinct sections. The upper area, designed in a modern art style from the Nineteen Thirties, welcomes visitors with a grand entrance marked by the sculpture Les Rochers dans le ciel by Didier Marcel and colonnades adorned with bas-reliefs by Élie Ottary. A long alley lined with linden trees and a broad lawn enhance the modern elegance of this space. A small stream flows over cascading pools from this upper park into the lower area.
In contrast, the lower park adopts a picturesque style reminiscent of the Napoleon III era. Its natural charm unfolds around a kidney-shaped basin with a fountain, playgrounds, and sports fields. Recent additions, including a pedagogical farm that houses goats, sheep, rabbits, and fowl, highlight the park’s commitment to community and recreation.
This park not only offers art and history but also a dynamic space where modern design and nature coexist.
