Parc départemental Georges Valbon
Landscaped 415-hectare park on wetlands, with 44 species of bird, grasslands, lakes & waterfalls.
Welcome to Parc départemental Georges Valbon, a celebrated urban green space spanning over four hundred hectares. Its transformation from fertile farmland and even a shantytown of the nineteen sixties to a vibrant retreat embodies the region’s evolution. In two thousand and ten, the park was renamed to honor Georges Valbon, the first president of the Seine-Saint-Denis council, who made lasting contributions to the local community.
Today, visitors explore varied landscapes that include manicured grasslands, seven water bodies with a grand lake and cascading waterfalls that drop up to twelve meters, and vast wooded areas. A rose garden boasts nearly forty-five thousand roses in more than one hundred and twenty varieties. Birdwatchers can enjoy sightings of familiar species like the common magpie as well as rare birds such as the tiniest European heron.
The park has long been a cultural hub as well. It staged the Fête de l’Humanité and hosted memorable concerts, including performances by Bruce Springsteen in nineteen eighty-five. Looking ahead, in two thousand twenty-four, the park will feature as a celebration zone for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games with outdoor screenings and an observation tower offering views from eighty meters.
This unique venue blends nature, culture, history, and sport for an unforgettable visit.
