Parc Clichy-Batignolles Martin Luther King offers visitors an inviting blend of modern sustainability and echoes of the past. Once a bustling SNCF freight yard, the area holds secrets of industrial history and local transformation. Nearby, a nineteenth-century city gate and the site of the old Batignolles railway station still remind us of days gone by.

Developed over several phases from two thousand seven to two thousand twenty, the park covers ten hectares, or roughly twenty-five acres. A key aspect of its appeal is its sustainable design. Innovative features include solar panels, a wind turbine, and systems that harvest rainwater, making it nearly zero carbon. Landscape architect Jacqueline Osty and her team used recycled materials and native, low-maintenance plants to create an oasis in the urban fabric.

Named in honor of American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., the park carries his spirit of equality and hope. His legacy weaves through the space, promoting community connection and a celebration of cultural heritage within the Batignolles district. Today, local residents and visitors alike enjoy the skate park, sports fields, children’s play areas, and a reflective pond that recycles rainwater and Seine water.

Parc Clichy-Batignolles Martin Luther King is easily reached by public transit, inviting travelers to explore an urban green space where history meets modern innovation.
