Parc de Bagatelle - la Roseraie is a hidden gem in Paris, perfect for visitors who enjoy a mix of history, art, and nature. Located in the sixteenth arrondissement on a vast twenty-five-hectare site near the Bois de Boulogne, this park was built in sixty-four days after a daring wager between Marie-Antoinette and the Comte d'Artois back in seventeen seventy-five. The design, crafted by François-Joseph Bélanger in just one night and brought to life by Thomas Blaikie, showcases an intriguing blend of Anglo-Chinese style and rococo details. In the park, you can discover unique structures such as a temple of philosophy, a Chinese pagoda, and an hermitage.

During the nineteenth century, additional treasures were added, including an orangery, stables, and charming pavilions. Later, Sir Richard Wallace expanded the grounds, and the park became part of the city of Paris in nineteen oh five. In nineteen oh seven, Charles Voisin made aviation history by achieving the first mechanical flight there.

Today, visitors are enchanted by the celebrated rose garden featuring roughly ten thousand roses in about one thousand two hundred varieties, and the annual international rose contest adds to its charm. With regular exhibitions and cultural events highlighting its influence on literature and television.
