Welcome to the Musée d'art et d'histoire du Judaïsme, a treasure trove of Jewish heritage located in the historic Hôtel de Saint-Aignan in Paris's Marais district. Housed in a seventeenth-century mansion built between sixteen forty-four and sixteen fifty, the building itself offers a glimpse into Parisian elegance with its unique trompe l’oeil façade, impressive pilasters, and grand interior courtyard.

Inside, visitors journey through over two thousand years of Jewish art and history from Europe and North Africa. The exhibits showcase medieval funeral steles, rare manuscripts, elaborate Hanukkah lamps, and many other religious objects. Notable artworks by Chagall, Kikoine, and Soutine celebrate Jewish contributions to modern art. A dedicated section explores the evolution of Jewish life in France—from medieval expulsions to emancipation after the French Revolution and the impact of the Dreyfus Affair.

In addition to its permanent collections, the museum offers guided tours, hands-on workshops, a media library, and a bookshop. Special exhibits such as medieval gravestones, a nineteenth-century sukkah, a traditional Moroccan bridal dress, and a fifteenth-century Ashkenazi Holy Ark further enrich the visitor experience. This museum stands as a vibrant center for preserving and sharing Jewish cultural heritage.
