Lafayette Anticipations - Fondation d'entreprise Galeries Lafayette
Exhibitions, tours & workshops in a contemporary events space renovated by architect Rem Koolhaas.
Lafayette Anticipations is a contemporary art museum located at five rue du Plâtre in the historic Marais district of Paris. Originally built in eighteen sixty-seven for the Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville, this building has seen a dramatic transformation. Under the vision of renowned architect Rem Koolhaas and his team at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture, its industrial character was preserved while a modern glass and steel tower was added. This tower, standing about eighteen meters tall, creates a striking contrast with the building’s original charm.
Since opening its doors in March two thousand eighteen, Lafayette Anticipations has grown into a vibrant hub for art, design, and fashion. The space hosts a wide range of exhibitions and interdisciplinary projects that bring together art, design, and social commentary. Visitors can enjoy seasonal events such as a June music festival showcasing emerging artists and a November performing arts festival that bridges visual and performing arts.
The mission of the foundation is to support contemporary artists and encourage creative dialogue. Today, Lafayette Anticipations offers an inviting blend of historical ambiance and modern creative energy, making it an engaging destination for local visitors eager to experience Paris’s dynamic cultural scene.
