Église Saint-Laurent
Restored medieval church with elaborate Gothic features, stained glass & painting-filled chapels.
Welcome to Église Saint-Laurent in Paris. This remarkable church in the tenth arrondissement stands on a historic north-south axis following an ancient Roman road between Senlis and Orléans. Originally founded near the end of the sixth century, the church has evolved over time. Its structure began in the thirteenth century and was enriched with transformations in the fifteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries.
Today, its facade shines with a blend of neo-Gothic and flamboyant Gothic styles. The striking spire and the large rose window are key features that capture the eye. Inside, the choir displays intricate woodwork and detailed coats of arms, while the chapels—some dedicated to Saint Lawrence, Saint Genevieve, and the Virgin—are adorned with lavish carvings and paintings.
The stained glass windows tell a story of French craftsmanship, ranging from early designs to modernist additions. A grand organ, originally built in the nineteenth century and later modified, fills the space with a rich musical heritage. Recognized as a monument historique, Église Saint-Laurent remains a treasure of Paris’s cultural and religious history, welcoming visitors with centuries of art and tradition.
