Musée Curie
History museum in the former lab of Marie Curie, offering exhibits on radioactivity & oncology.
Welcome to Musée Curie, nestled in the heart of Paris at one Rue Pierre et Marie Curie in the fifth arrondissement. This historical museum, established in nineteen thirty-four following Marie Curie’s passing, is set in the very building where she conducted her groundbreaking work from nineteen fourteen to nineteen thirty-four. The former laboratory and office have preserved the spirit of discovery and radiological research that defined her career.
Inside, you can witness historical scientific instruments and apparatus used before nineteen forty. The museum tells the story of how Irène Joliot-Curie and Frédéric Joliot-Curie achieved the breakthrough of artificial radioactivity—a discovery that earned them a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in nineteen thirty-five. Their work is showcased alongside an archive filled with photographs and documents that chronicle the evolution of radioactivity and the lasting influence of the Curie family.
A major renovation was completed in two thousand twelve, funded by Ève Curie, which ensures that every visitor feels connected to both science and history.
