Musée Bourdelle welcomes visitors into the world of a celebrated French sculptor who worked from the late nineteenth century until the early twentieth century. Antoine Bourdelle, once a pupil of the great Auguste Rodin, forged his own unique path in sculpture, leaving behind a legacy that captures the spirit of a bygone Parisian atelier. Located in the fifteenth arrondissement of Paris at eighteen rue Antoine Bourdelle, the museum is housed in the sculptor’s former studio and preserves the atmosphere and work environment he cherished.

Upon entering, guests follow an educational and chronological path that unveils the evolution of Bourdelle’s art. Over five hundred works are on display, ranging from statues crafted in marble, plaster, and bronze to evocative paintings and drawings. Among these creations are original plaster casts portraying studies of the legendary Ludwig van Beethoven, alongside pieces by noted artists such as Eugène Carrière, Eugène Delacroix, Ingres, Monticelli, and Puvis de Chavannes.

After an extensive two-year renovation, the museum reopened in March two thousand twenty-three. Additionally, a secondary garden-museum in Égreville, curated by Bourdelle’s heirs, further enriches his legacy with more sculptures.
