Audio GuideAtelier des Lumières
Unique art center presenting classic pieces in immersive music- & video-accompanied exhibitions.
Welcome, travelers, to Atelier des Lumières, a digital art center housed at thirty-eight rue Saint-Maur in the vibrant eleventh arrondissement of Paris. This striking venue began its life as a steel foundry in the nineteenth century, established by the Plichon brothers. Over time, a remarkable transformation turned an industrial space into a modern sanctuary for art and wonder.
Atelier des Lumières spans roughly one thousand five hundred square meters where thousands of high-resolution images are projected onto every surface. One hundred forty projectors work with fifty speakers to create an immersive environment, thanks to innovative AMIEX technology that adapts to the space. Art and music combine, offering visitors a multisensory experience that captures the imagination.
The center has hosted exhibitions featuring works by celebrated artists such as Gustav Klimt, Vincent van Gogh, and Claude Monet, along with engaging themed shows exploring ancient cultures and nature. Two distinct areas invite exploration: a large main hall known as La Halle and a smaller sound-isolated studio that also serves as a bar and exhibition space for emerging digital artists.
Atelier des Lumières welcomes families, art enthusiasts, and young visitors with an inviting approach that differs from traditional museums. Its programs, including Art en Immersion, now reach out to disadvantaged children, sparking creativity while supporting the local community and economy. Enjoy your journey into this unique blend of heritage and cutting-edge technology in the heart of Paris.
