Musée Zadkine
Museum & garden dedicated to 20th-century sculptor Ossip Zadkine in his former home studio.
In the charming heart of Paris, close to the renowned Luxembourg Garden in the historic sixth arrondissement, Musée Zadkine invites visitors to explore the artistic world of the Russian sculptor Ossip Zadkine. Born in the late nineteenth century, Zadkine was a significant figure in modern art, known for a distinctive style that blended Cubism and abstraction. His former residence and workshop have been beautifully converted into a museum, allowing people to experience his artistic journey.
Ossip Zadkine’s legacy is celebrated through a personal collection comprising around three hundred sculptures, along with drawings, photographs, and tapestries, which highlight the extensive range of his artistic vision. The museum was established when his devoted wife, Valentine Prax, graciously donated the estate and his collection to the City of Paris. Since opening in nineteen eighty-two, Musée Zadkine has evolved into a vibrant hub for art and creative expression.
Enhancing its allure is a tranquil garden that provides a serene retreat for art enthusiasts. As a member of the Paris Musées network, the museum regularly features contemporary art exhibitions, underscoring its strong connections to the Parisian art scene and community life. Renovations in twenty twelve improved accessibility and reinforced the creative essence of the venue.
