Welcome to Saint-Ambroise Church in Paris, an extraordinary landmark rich in history and artistic beauty. Initially, a modest seventeenth-century chapel was established by nuns from the Annonciades de Popincourt. As Paris evolved, the old chapel was replaced by a new architectural vision. Between eighteen sixty-three and eighteen sixty-nine, architect Théodore Ballu designed the current building. It now stands as a striking blend of neo-Romanesque, neo-Gothic, and neo-Byzantine styles.

The church is renowned for its twin towers, each measuring an impressive sixty-eight metres in height, reminiscent of the towers at Notre Dame. Inside, the spacious nave and gallery are bathed in light from vibrant stained-glass windows created by the workshop of Charles-Raphaël Maréchal between eighteen sixty-six and eighteen sixty-nine. Dramatic murals by Jules Lenepveu depict scenes from the life of Saint Augustine, while intricate enamel paintings on the façade celebrate themes of eloquence and theology.

Dedicated to the celebrated Italian bishop, Saint Ambrose, the church pays tribute to his legacy through its art and design. Over the years, it has been part of significant historical moments, such as the Paris Commune and events in nineteen ninety-six. With its magnificent grand organ, choir organ, and historic bells, Saint-Ambroise continues to be a vibrant testament to the cultural and social heritage of Paris.
