Landscaped 415-hectare park on wetlands, with 44 species of bird, grasslands, lakes & waterfalls.

...

Welcome to Parc départemental Georges Valbon, a renowned urban green space covering over four hundred hectares. Its journey from fertile farmland and even a shantytown in the nineteen sixties to a lively haven reflects the region’s transformation. In two thousand and ten, the park was renamed in honour of Georges Valbon, the inaugural president of the Seine-Saint-Denis council, recognising his significant contributions to the local community.

Today, visitors can explore varied landscapes that feature manicured meadows, seven bodies of water including a large lake, and waterfalls that cascade up to twelve metres, as well as extensive wooded areas. The rose garden dazzles with nearly forty-five thousand roses in over one hundred and twenty varieties. Birdwatchers can spot common local birds like the magpie, alongside less common species such as the smallest European heron.

The park has also been a long-standing cultural centre. It has been the site of the Fête de l’Humanité and has hosted unforgettable concerts, including Bruce Springsteen in nineteen eighty-five. Looking ahead to twenty twenty-four, the park will serve as a celebration area for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, featuring outdoor screenings and an observation tower providing views from eighty metres above ground.

This unique site combines nature, culture, history, and sport to create an unforgettable experience.
