Audio GuideMusée Maillol
Sculpture, painting & drawings by Aristide Maillol & European masters, plus temporary exhibitions.
Welcome to Musée Maillol, a distinctive art venue located in Paris's seventh district at fifty-nine to sixty-one, rue de Grenelle. Situated within a historic building, previously known as the esteemed Hôtel Bouchardon and later serving as the Cabaret de la Fontaine des Quatre-Saisons, the museum has undergone a significant renovation over the past fifty years. This meticulous restoration now provides visitors with a welcoming restaurant, permanent collections, and temporary exhibitions celebrating art from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
The museum's heart is the visionary Dina Vierny, muse and devoted supporter of the sculptor Aristide Maillol. In nineteen sixty-four, she donated Maillol's monumental sculptures and later founded a foundation to honour his work. Today, the museum houses an extensive collection, encompassing sculptures, paintings, drawings, and decorative arts, featuring renowned artists such as Henri Rousseau, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and numerous others, including modern European and Russian artists.
Experience the fusion of historical charm and contemporary style, a cultural adventure enriched by Paris's rich artistic legacy. The museum is open to the public daily with an entrance fee and is managed by Dina Vierny's heirs, ensuring its vibrant legacy endures.
