Welcome to the Musée national Jean-Jacques Henner, an art museum celebrating the life and work of the esteemed nineteenth-century painter Jean-Jacques Henner. This museum is situated in a charming townhouse designed by Nicolas-Félix Escalier in eighteen seventy-eight, capturing the elegant architectural aesthetic of its time. As you wander through its halls in the seventeenth arrondissement of Paris, you will enjoy a seamless fusion of history, art, and creative expression.

The museum boasts over one hundred and thirty paintings and drawings, showcasing portraits, mythological scenes, and ethereal landscapes influenced by the Symbolist movement. In addition to Henner's completed works, the exhibition includes preparatory sketches and documents that offer insights into his meticulous creative process and illustrate the development of his art from eighteen twenty-nine to nineteen oh five.

Established on the seventh of March, nineteen twenty-four, in accordance with the artist's wishes by Marie Henner, and inaugurated by Minister Léon Bérard, the museum also features temporary exhibitions such as the presentation of Francisco de Goya’s La Tauromaquia. This mix of permanent and temporary exhibits enhances the narrative of Henner’s legacy, providing a richer cultural journey in this lively area of Paris.
